| Why
Montessori Education for our Children?
“Montessori method is based on the spontaneous activity
of the child which is aroused precisely by the interest the
child takes in the material.”
- Dr. Maria Montessori
-
Dr. Montessori, in her initial work in 1907 in San Lorenzo, observed that the younger children were naturally interested in sensory materials. The children learnt through manipulating the sensorial materials with deep concentration, repeatedly and independently. They emerged from this spontaneous activity renewed with a greater sense of inner satisfaction.
Children teach themselves. Montessori teaching believes that it is children’s natural ability to absorb knowledge from their surroundings, as well as their natural interest in manipulating the learning materials. Apart from documented academic success, Montessori children also demonstrate better social behaviour and likely to engage in positive emotional play with peers.
